Our first visit. If you have time before your flight, take the air cargo road...about 10 minutes...hidden in an industrial park. It was paint night so the main dining room, with booths on sides was filled with painters. But the bar area was fine and bartender attentive and friendly. Our waitress was happy and friendly and attentive. Margaritas were served in traditional margarita glasses, nicely salted, but used commercial mix...a little too sweet. Tequila shooter was great...salted rim with a wedge of lime. Queso fundido with chorizo was excellent, as were the green and red salsas that cam with the chips. The chips are commercial, as they do not fry their foods and thus cannot make their own...adequate but they should find a better supplier. My wife loved the three taco selection and my daughter created her own fresh salad with huge avocado wedges...she added shrimp, but would have preferred grilled shrimp to the chilled provided. My Alambre (sp?) was basically fajitas with melted cheese and I thought it was going to be carne asada (probably misread the menu). It was a little too well done, a little on the greasy side, but satisfying...I ate it all. Churros (6 per serving) are good served with commercial (Hershey?) chocolate syrup. All the food was obviously fresh. A good choice for anyone who prefers real Mexican food cooking versus fried Tex-Mex. We recommend it. Bill for 3 without tip was $73...not bad by Boston standards. We would return if we had time before a flight, but probably not go out of our way.

Service is a little sketchy here but everyone is nice. The important thing is the food is consistent. It's tucked away in an office park so that contributes to the lack of atmosphere. Great place for lunch though if you're in Gateway and like authentic Mexican food.

From out of town and wanted Mexican before left for home. Near airport. Very good food using thick style flour tortillas and sauce's high quality. Its got a bit of a funny location but using NAV will get you there.

Delicious meal! Restaurant is tucked away in a corporate park, but what a gem! Great service too. Must try the green sauce!!

I know we are hard up for good Mexican Food in SwF but if you give this place a good review then you don't know Mexican food. I could go on and on about it but here is the example that ices the cake. One of the items I ordered was their chips and guacamole platter and half the chips were freshly made and half were from a generic bag, probably from costco. If you can't get the chips and guac right, you're in the wrong business. One more thing. If you order a steak burrito with green sauce, expect a rice burrito with half ground beef half not sure what it was.

We were looking for something better then iguana Mia. I saw this on yelp and thought to try it. I'm glad we did. The horchata was yummy. I like the salsa a lot. It's a hidden gem.

I came into town for work for just one night. I was so glad I found this place on yelp since everything around the airport is fast food. I had a very good chille relleno. I'd come back.

Heard a lot of good comments on this place but I was disappointed. My measure of a Mexican restaurant is how the chicken dishes are prepared. The chicken enchiladas were made with precooked chicken causing it to be very dry. Also it was microwaved - very hot coming out but cooled very quickly. Please use fresh ingredients. Cook to order. I don't mind waiting a little longer for great food made fresh. Mediocre at best!

This was my first visit to lupita. We ordered an assortment of tacos and everything was top notch. The green hot sauce was very flavorful.

This may hands down be the greatest, most authentic Mexican restaurant that I've ever visited. The food tastes just like when my friends' parents cooked. They have flautas AND tamales on the menu. Their tres leches cake is heavenly. I'm in love! I'd definitely recommend this to EVERYONE!

When I moved to lee county I figured there would be some great Mexican restaurants. As of yet I have found very few. However, this place is my favorite!!!! It is the real deal. I work in gateway and order to go for lunch a few times a month. Their nachos are AWESOME! I also recommend their burrito with green chile. The service is always great and they are quick.

Honestly, it's the best Mexican food I ever ate...in an office park. Yep, not far from Southwest Florida International Airport, there's a relatively non-descript office park, and smack dab in the middle is...a Mexican restaurant serving up surprisingly great food! I had the Taco Combination Platter. One ground beef, one chicken, and one pork taco, with salsa, rice, and beans on the side. It was fresh and flavorful. Just the right portion for a satisfying lunch. My dad, a very picky eater, ordered a wet burrito with ground beef. He really enjoyed it, and he's not easy to please. Wine and beer are available, but I had a horchata, which was good. The front half of the restaurant is quaint, but there is a larger dining room in the back, which we noticed as we were leaving. Good service. Great food. Definitely worth looking for. You'll be rewarded once you've found it!

See some people complain here about the location. It's worth the adventure to look for it. By far best Mexican food in Fort Myers and atmosphere is great. What a friendly and helpful staff. Loved everything about it.

This place is wonderful! It is really hard to find a place that serves authentic Mexican without adding flavors from excessive condiments or other sources. I don't know what that other reviewer is talking about saying that their food has MSG since I am allergic to MSG and I have never had a problem in the 3 years that I've been frequenting this place. If you want true mexican you have to try their queso fundido and their allambre! Mmmmm!!!!

This is such a convenient location in relation to my work. I love coming here to treat myself for lunch. The food is always fresh and they have great lunch specials! Service can be slow at times if it's busy and they only have one waiter working. They have an extensive menu, there's something for even the pickiest of eaters! I recommend asking for the tomatillo salsa for your tacos.

I've been to Casa Lupita a few times and they've been pretty good. The restaurant itself is tucked away in an awkward location where one would expect to find offices. They have outdoor seating, but without a frozen margarita, it'd be way too hot for any of that. They've got your typical Mexican restaurant decor and atmosphere with a good amount of drink options. The menu is not too big, but has a little bit of everything. Common things we order are the Lupita tacos a la carte, which are quick, simple, and relatively cheap for good quality tacos. The last time I went I got the wet burrito with white sauce. While not really appetizing, a fat chunky burrito smothered in goopy white sauce, it was actually pretty tasty. The carnitas I got in the burrito were not dry, and a little bit of lettuce and tomatoes on the side helped cut through the heavy and thick burrito. I was actually impressed with the mild salsa they have, as it looked and tasted very fresh; can't be from a can. Other good things to order are the taco salad and tostadas. While they are not out of this world amazing, nothing has really ever been wrong with the food. On the contrary, they have been pretty consistent with normal attentive and friendly service. Normally they would get just 3 stars, but I feel like the food is just good enough to push them over to a flat 4; not having any major complaints about the service helps, although last time we were charged an extra dollar even though we ordered off the daily special, meh. There is room for improvement, but for now, Casa Lupita is on the right track to becoming a quality Mexican restaurant. I'll probably be back next time I'm in the Ft Meyers area and would recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for Mexican.

Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in Ft Myers. This is a totally different Casa Lupita than the one that was on 41 15 years ago that is now Famous Daves- they are not the same place. The food is very fresh and tasty at very reasonable prices. Happy hour beer prices- $2.49 for a 16 ounce domestic beer in a frosted mug until 7pm- pretty good. It is rather hard to find- one block east of jet blue stadium behind a building- it is not visible from Daniels but definitely worth the hunt. The carnitas were excellent- moist and well seasoned. The corn tortillas were thick, warm and soft- so good! The only reason for not giving a five star rating is that you only get one basket of chips with an entree per table- you have to pay for a refill. And the salsa that comes with the chips is both red and green but very watery. Great place I will be back!

The mexican food here is authentic and delicious. I have tried the guacamole appetizer which is fresh as can be and outstanding. I have also tried the Tamales and the Tostada sampler which are both great. My mother was born in Mexico City and she loved this restaurant. Will be going back frequently!

Two wet burrito lunch specials with one drink chips & salsa, $28. Burrito was 1/2 filled with white rice. Paid extra for the chips & salsa: not included. Servers more interested in each other than customers. Food was acceptable, price high, service needs improvement.

This is by far, the best Mexican restaurant that I have found in Florida. It is an authentic family owned business. If you have never been there before, it can be a little hard to find. It is located in an industrial park off of Daniels Parkway. First off, you get complementary chips with 2 types of salsa. We also love their fresh made guacamole. The salsa and guacamole are great, but make sure you leave room for your meal! The chicken tortilla soup is homemade and wonderful. Big pieces of chicken in it. My son and I usually go for the Wet Burritos. I prefer chicken in the white sauce. My son prefers beef in a red sauce. Both are huge and outstanding flavor. See pictures below. Finally, if you have room, they have a great Tres Leche cake!

Great food low prices good drinks. What more needs to be said ? Location somewhat out of the way on the back side of the airport. Only locals go here the two times I was here. We will definitely be back here again when in the area

Very good food & service! We've been here for lunch and dinner. We love Mexican food and heard we wouldn't find good Mexican in Ft Myers but Casa Lupita proved that statement wrong. Everything we've tried here is amazing even the chili relleno which is always our test of good Mexican.

  • Barbara B.

Let me begin by emphasizing that the food and service were excellent. This is authentic Mexican food with a little gourmet flare. We ordered the 3 tacos and wet burrito and red hot enchiladas. The major mistake we made was asking for "spicy." Often we ask for spicy and there's barely any heat. This red-hot food was the real deal. We had burned tongues but it was our fault as the waitress tried to warn us! I guess some patrons won't like the decor. It wasn't as cozy as it night have been but that's never an issue for me as the food is the focus of my interest. Definitely try this but stick to the 'medium' spice!!

3 1/2 STARS We've been wanting to try this place in nearby Gateway for some time. It's a bit difficult to fine, but worth seeking out, I think. The complementary salsa (2 types) & chips were very nice. For lunch we had the Three Taco Special ($5.50) and the Pollo ala Mexicana ($9.99), all washed down with a draft Pacifico. Everything was plentiful and tasty, as is usually the case with Mexican food. Extra to take home. This has the distinct feel of a true "mom & pop," which is wonderful to have in this time of so many chains in the Fort Myers area. Location - 4 STARS (a bit tricky to find) Service - 4 STARS Food - 3 1/2 STARS Value - 4 STARS Ambiance/Decor - 3 1/2 STARS

Everything has MSG (monosodium glutamate) in it - the soups, the guacamole, all of the meats and the sauces. The salsas didn't. I was not impressed because Mexican cuisine has so many excellent flavors. A good restaurant shouldn't have to rely on MSG as a flavor enhancer or meat tenderizer - it should rely on good cooking and good recipes. So we won't be back. Also, we ordered "mild" and it still was tongue burning! The service was good which earned it the second star.

Looking for great Mexican food that's authentic? This is the place! Wasn't sure at first since it sits in an industrial park behind the airport but we were Pleasantly surprised. Waiter gave great suggestions. The guac was excellent and The Alambre with Chirizo but soooo good. Would highly recommend don't get hung up on the location .

Second visit tonight ... Very disappointed. Seated in bar area as dining room was busy, much with a painting class. I understand a number of restaurants do this. Regardless, ordered Queso app with side of guacamole. Guacamole very good, but Queso was little more than melted white cheese - had to mix salsa with it to get some taste. Menu says that dinners include on free order of chips and salsa per table - never received ours. Ordered tortilla soup, and it was good and filling. But it ended there. We intentionally did not order dinner until we were almost thru with appetizer as this place, like many Mexican restaurants, brings the food in a hurry. True to form, my entree - roast pork with beans and rice - arrived with the soup - I wanted to enjoy the soup and then my dinner, so I asked that the be taken back for the time being. It was. However, when it was time for my entree, it was obvious it had been put under a heat lamp to keep warm. The rice and beans were dry and tasteless (no salsa or anything offered to put on them). The roast pork, shredded Cuban style, was dry and incredibly salty, almost to the point of not being edible. Most cuban cuisine places serve roast pork with a Cuban style sauce - not here. Just dry and salty. Three bites and I was done. I did a take home on it as I believe I can save it. 2 stars because the service was attentive and there was a generous amount of tequila in my margarita. Add to it that in the bar we were treated to television shows including The Bachelor and shooting alligators - all in all, very appetizing! Not sure I will return ...

Excellent food and service in a hidden location. We were so pleased to grab lunch here after a flight into ft myers. Freshly prepared guacamole, homemade sauces, salsa and chips. Surprisingly, one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in terms of freshness, flavor, and service.

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. There's not really much to say. Every time I've been here, the food and service has been great. Good luck finding it though. From the road, you would never guess there's a fantastic restaurant in that industrial park. It's a diamond in the rough.

I really wanted to like this place because it bears the name of the restaurant that I used to love as a child (on US 41). However, when I arrived I asked if there was any connection between the two and the server said there was not. That became evident when I attempted to eat my meal. I am a huge fan of Mexican food, but this stuff was terrible. I ordered nachos with cheese and salsa and the cheese was gross. How can you screw up queso?? It was flavorless. Next up was the chicken chimichanga. The chicken tasted bad. I seriously feared it was going to make me ill, so I quickly paid my bill and left. The only saving grace was that the sangria was from a bottle so they couldn't screw that up.

This place is a hidden treasure with fabulous food. Family owned + Friendly staff. The prices are reasonable, the service is fantastic, and they have a great horchata with free refills! Vegan Recommendations: - Homemade Guacamole - Not on the menu, ask for refried bean tacos with veggies, rice, guacamole, and hot sauce.

Tucked away inside an office park, Casa Lupita provides tacos, burritos and sopes for business folks that hopefully don't take it for granted. Its location benefits not only the local office drones but out-of-towners as well. It is one of the few Yelp-approved places near the airport, and absolutely worth stopping at if you're landing at lunchtime. The menu is small and focused, the quality is decent, and the flavors are terrific. Strong recommendation.

I really want like this place. Its a small family run place hindered by a poor location. Their hard work and perseverance is to be applauded. That said, I just can't get past the average food at above average (for Mexican cuisine) prices. I went once and came away unimpressed. After reading positive reviews here and elsewhere, I tried again...and had a similar experience. Several months have passed and the reviews continue to be good overall so...my wife and I tried for yet a third time. Sadly it was more of the sam - mediocre service, relatively small portions (compared to competitors), very poor chips, and average entrees. I wish them well and hope that they continue to satisfy enough customers to survive in a very tough business.

  • Scott H.

The food was pretty decent. The service was absolutely horrible. I really wanted this place to be great. Its just really hard to give a good rating when we were ignored like we were. After we sat down, our drink order was taken quickly, but we didn't actually get drinks for awhile. Then after we got drinks, another 10 minutes before our food order was taken. We finally were served our dinners 56 minutes later. This is not an exaggeration. We also had to ask for chips and salsa. Sorry, won't be coming back.

Despite the fact that this place is a grand total of twenty seven steps from my office, I spent the better part of an entire year avoiding it entirely. It wasn't just bad, it was horrifyingly bad - as in "I'll suck it up and just have Subway for lunch again" bad. Then, 8-9 months ago, a couple friends mentioned the place in passing. Couple days later, after an office visit, a client announced he was meeting his wife here for dinner. And that was enough to get me to return. I went and it was . . . mostly good. So, I went again and it was . . .a bit better than mostly good. Somehow, I found myself there every couple weeks and each and every time - it got just a little bit better - kind of like the movie Fletch or any MGMT CD. Now - I'm stunned to say I'm a regular and my staff thinks it's a true treat when we have a lunch meeting here. Granted - there's not much in the way of decor or theme - we are talking about a Mexican restaurant hidden in the middle of a perfectly forgettable office park. So, it's mostly a lunch joint with some damn decent Mexican food and, for some reason - the most addictive Cuban sandwich I've come across. The Guacamole is a must start - chunky, limey, salty, tomatoey goodness served pit and all surrounded by a dueling variety of chips and a well seasoned salsa verde and positive pico/mild salsa. Order the hot salsa - which is more like a medium but chock full of deliciousness. The Mexican lineup works entirely because they have the fundamentals figured out. Well seasoned proteins and beans, perfectly cooked rice, good distribution of veggies and authenic corn tortillas and sopes. Really - you can't miss on the menu although I'm partial to the trio of tacos and the sweat-inducing chicken burrito bathed in their extra hot salsa. Really, this is quite a reclamation project and one that deserves some kudos for their steady increase in quality during a time when most restaurants are doing the opposite.

This is THE best Mexican restaurant in Ft. Myers! Staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is authentic Mexican, fresh ingredients, not greasy, and absolutely delicious. They also have happy hour from 4-7pm with super cheap drink prices. Only down side is that they are closed on Sundays!

If it wasn't for the other reviews, I would never have found this place and/or would never have considered going in. The place looks sort of like someone's kitchen, if they were to have six kitchen tables and chairs in it. It's a strange look for a place, but it was clean and the service was good. The food was excellent and great value for the price and felt very authentically Mexican. Great little place.

I found this hidden gem based on the stellar reviews found here. I have since dined here several times and enjoy the delicous food. The staff is always friendly and the ambiance holds a certain charm. You can't go wrong no matter what you order. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the fact that they seem to be pretty slow in cleaning the tables after diners leave which has lead to excessive wait times for a table. Nonetheless, it is my favorite Mexican restaurant at the moment.

My husband loves Mexican food, I hate it. This restaurant saves our marriage. It is the ONLY Mexican restaurant that I love the food at, like I was raving about it. It is fresh, plentiful, and flavorful! The owners are so incredibly nice. It is a cafe style restaurant, so it is more of an everyday restaurant, not really for a romantic date or anything. The prices are good.

This place is absolutely AMAZING! Being a South Florida Native from Ft. Lauderdale,I couldn't ever find authentic mexican food.. But this place blew my socks off! And after going to Mexico on several occasions, I have a high standard for what the food should taste like! The service was outstanding.. I started off with the Guacamole appetizer platter, and it had salsa and some other green sauce, it was to die for.. Super fresh, and was definitely a huge portion.. I then had the Lupita tacos, which consists of 3 different meats, came with yellow rice and refried beans. All very fresh and super tasty. I even uploaded a pic for you guys.I was super full after all this great food, and can't wait to try the other great dishes on the menu, the next time we go. I noticed that after 2 entrees and 1 appetizer our total was around $31.00, which is typically a bit high for a Mexican Restaurant, but I promise you it was worth every single penny.. This will be our place from now on! You gotta try it.. BTW, make sure you Mapquest this place or you will get lost.. Its in a horrible location and you can't see it from the main road

hard to find but worth the drive. I am looking forward to going back. all the food was so fresh and had lots of flavor. the menu is extensive and its hard to choose with all the delicious looking choices. i would recommend giving this place a try.

Place is cozy, mexican decorated, there was no one around when we got in to serve us right away. Then we had the most adorable waitress, food was ok, I order enchiladas... if you are hungry this may not be the place, even the rice portion yuou get is I say under an average portion you may get somewhere else. food is ok, though. Their chips and salsa are ok... I had better, I was a little disappointed on the chips that are not made, I guess they give you doritos or something, you expect something more original in a restaurant than bag chips. Best of all, our waitress.

Well..... I guess I am jaded or just do not know of a better place here in Ft. Meyers..... The place was beautiful, the people were nice, and ingredients very fresh. Though hard to find in a business park near the airport. BUTTTTT.... compare to SF Bay area.... This place was nothing to rave about. No quick to go burrito...... and very pricey. I had a tamale lunch special. 6.99.. It would take 2 of these tamale that would equal the size of 1 even if I got it from COSTO. The the burritto were not very big. for 7.99. I have bigger at my favorite place (Happy Burrito) thats 3 bucks cheaper & freshly made in front of you too. These filled you up all day long. I am disappointed so overall. I think it apples & oranges. I have notice food seems to be more pricey here than in SF Bay area. Why is that ????

Finally found a Mexican restaurant in the Ft Myers area that we loved. So many Mexican restaurants can "taste the same," but this one was unique in a variety of ways. It is locally owned and we always try to support that. We were the only ones that chose to sit on their small outside patio for dinner and once the wait staff learned that we were first timers, they were very inviting and conversant. Guacamole was top in my book and the two different salsas served with it looked and tasted like they had just been made fresh moments ago. My pork entree (Michelle's Plate) was top notch flavor with flour tortillas that were hot out of the oven. My husband had chicken fajitas loaded with veggies and he actually needed a small take home container for leftovers. Not exactly on the beaten path for us, but well worth the 9 mile drive past Jet Blur Park. We will return.

  • Michael Z.

Ok. Here is the deal. The wait staff is completely under-trained. They are lovely, friendly, and courteous. They just cannot handle a room. Service takes forrrreeevvvvvveeerrr. There is usually something not right on the plate. For the four of us with guacamole and four entrees and no alcohol after tip was 83.00. The food has once again become inconsistent. When the mother is there it seems to better than when she is not. The mole is incredible. Everything else has been cheapened, lacks authenticity, has a very lackluster taste profile, sees a microwave at some point, arrives wrong, and takes forever to get there. I think that I am done going here. Actually, I know that I am done going here. You know what else was kind of weird...haven't seen in some time though...tvs were on Spanish Chanel. This is in the middle of Gateway. Not many Spanish speakers in gateway. Was the TV for the staff or for the customers?

Came here due to the reviews and the fact that my in-laws live up the road. It is pretty hard to find, but trust me its worth looking for. Right off the bat, the chips looked home made and were really good with their salsa. I had the tacos with pork and it was amazing. Everything tasted extremely fresh and really authentic. The food was well above and beyond what I expected. I would go as far to say that this was one of the best Mexican meals I've ever eaten. I loved it so much that i went back for lunch a few days later before I left Florida. Next time I am back in town, I will be going straight there from the Airport.

Went to this restaurant based on other Yelp reviews. This place is great! It really is hidden in a commercial park, but well worth the trip. Very friendly staff, and delicious food. I highly recommend the Guacamole starter, and quesadilla. I love the made from scratch and small family business feel you get here too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes.
